JOB DESCRIPTION / DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

Build the above metadata framework to work across Hadoop, RDBMS and NoSQL stores
Assist in migrating all existing ETL flows to this framework
Assist in building an ETL framework that will significantly move the needle toward a self-service model

 

Deep programming experience — one or more of Java, C, C++ on Unix environments
Deep knowledge of metadata systems as well as data flow systems
Experience in delivering bullet-proof systems that must run 24×365.25

Good knowledge of RDBMS systems as well as Hadoop

Working knowledge of workflow schedulers and data flow engines

Nice to have: experience in developing domain specific languages for systems — some compiler / programming language background would be highly desirable

Built right, the metadata framework can also be leveraged by systems to optimize query processing on Hadoop and RDBMS — so this is extremely high leverage work.

  • Mission:
    • Build the above metadata framework to work across Hadoop, RDBMS and NoSQL stores
    • Assist in migrating all existing ETL flows to this framework
    • Assist in building an ETL framework that will significantly move the needle toward a self-service model


  • Competencies:
    • Deep programming experience — one or more of Java, C, C++ on Unix environments
    • Deep knowledge of metadata systems as well as data flow systems
    • Experience in delivering bullet-proof systems that must run 24x365.25
    • Good knowledge of RDBMS systems as well as Hadoop

  • Outcomes:
    • Deliver a metadata system that spans RDBMS and Hadoop
    • Assist in the delivery of ETL framework that leverages this framework
    • Results in at least one well received and respected open source project
    • Results in a paper in a prestigious journal and/or conference
